2017, hand crochet, cotton thread, stainless steel clasp

Margaret Daszkiewicz uses crochet to create intricate, sculptural interpretations of the natural world. Drawing on her grandmother’s traditional crochet techniques and her own fascination with organic pattern, her works are formed using superfne threads and tiny tools, Daskiewicz uses the minuscule knot repetition to meticulously build the cellular patterns of nature for her wearable art.

Born in Poland, Daszkiewicz has been based in Sydney for the past ten years. She creates specialty, limited commissions for sale at the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences (Powerhouse).
