Troy Donaghy 'Untitled I'

800.00

2017, oil on linen, 100 x 100 cm

Drawer and painter, Troy Donaghy, exemplifies the concept of an artist tending to their work with a gentle confidence. Donaghy’s practice revolves around his interactions with the external world and the process of transcribing the mundane objects which inhabit that environment.

The curiosity of Donaghy’s choice of subject begins to seem irrelevant once one begins to focus upon the hypnotic contemplation that resides within each line. The paintings appear to inhabit a timeless realm where the Laundry Bags float in a space free of gravity; the subject and the object itself have become weightless. The eerie silence and weightlessness that inhabits Donaghy’s work is reflective of the time Donaghy allows himself in the process of making; The works are created out of the desire to merely exist.
