Adam Oste 'National Park'

1,000.00

2017, oil on board, 1014 x 1114mm

Adam recently graduated from UNSW Art & Design with a B. Fine Arts and B. Education (Secondary). He has already exhibited two solo shows, Terra Laudet at Clifton School of Arts and Black Gold Gallery (2015) and Lines on the Land at Space 44 Gallery (2015).

Over the past few years, Adam has immersed himself in the bushland surrounding Sydney, finding inspiration in the local landscape. Adam is fascinated by mediated experiences of the bush found in campgrounds, barbeque areas, bush reserves, and national parks. Marcia Langton has described these spaces as ‘constructed wilderness,’ as they appear to be ‘natural’ landscapes, untended by human hands. This blinkered experience of the Australian bush can be seen to create yet another layer of erasure and distance from the Indigenous history of the land. Adam draws upon imagery from Australian art history and his own experiences of the bush with friends and family. He has captured the colours and light of this vast land.
