Anna Magdalena Laerkesen discusses her painting, photography and installation works for her solo exhibition Refuge.
Visitors are invited to participate in a community event, to knit, crochet or weave a 20cm square patch. Each square will then be sewn together to create a blanket. This will be used to develop a new work and for further exploration by the artist.
All abilities welcome - those with no prior knitting, crochet or weaving experience welcome. Materials provided - (but please bring knitting or crochet needles if you have them).
Throughout the exhibition, Laerkesen works with the body, objects and materiality to investigate current issues of homelessness, displacement and the notion of 'placement.' Laerkesen divides-up the gallery with wool to explore these ideas of space.
Come and join the discussion & try your hand at a square
